The designer did a great job at reproducing boring academic journal covers.

I see the Geass symbol, but I keep reading the title as:
"DISCOURSES ON MODERNITY
Perceptions of the Self Vol. 07"

There would be a problem with that, considering the artist seems to be persuing a theme with spheres and symetrical imagery, based off what I've seen of the others in the collection.

Well, the way I see it, this is also reminiscent of the Zero mask. Also remember that Lelouch's eye color is violet.
