    5/7 is Powder Day! Wordplay from powder (粉/kona) where ko = 5 and na = 7.
    Do you know why white powder is placed in front of entrances?
    The white powder you see placed at entrances are called morishio or piled salt. They are used to ward off bad luck and invite only good luck into one's dwelling. (Placing two also lets them act as a barrier against evil spirits.)
    Why salt? Its use comes from the idea that saltwater cleanses one of their sins and impurities. This belief stems from the legend of Izanagi-no-Mikoto, the creator deity in Japanese mythology, who had cleansed himself of impurities using saltwater after he had visited the underworld, Yomi, to see his wife, Izanami.
