IIRC it's mentioned one of the books too that she was doing some absurdly complex math as a hobby as well.

Is it just me, or is there a figure up in the doorway at the top of the stairs?

I think that the shadow on right is Flandre, basing on shape of shadow.

The shadow on left could be Remilia. Not sure, though, leave it for others to decide.

Yukari is described as being even more intelligent than Ran. But she's really lazy, so yeah.
