Sharks can be split between those that are egg-laying (~40%) and live-bearing (~(60%). Those that lay eggs don't produce many eggs (some producing around 20 a year) and the eggs come in leathery cases for protection that have tendrils on the ends that help anchor them to things on the seafloor.
