"The year is 2052, and there might not be a 2053 for humanity. Nineteen years ago, we discovered that we are not alone, in perhaps the worst possible manner. Now, the surface of the Earth is pitted and cracked, and mechanical behemoths called City Eaters devour the last traces of civilization. In a ruined warehouse in a ruined city, the last members of the world's defense force huddle. They are hunted, desperate, and possibly the last twelve people on the planet.
And then, she awoke.
Project B.R.S., a.k.a. Black Rock Shooter, is the Earth's ultimate weapon in every sense. She's a little late to the apocalypse, but she doesn't know the meaning of the word "die" -- at least not in relation to herself. She was designed to eliminate the alien machines attacking the Earth, with just her own abilities (and a bit of help from the mecha CNRT) if necessary. She's certainly the only thing standing in the way of the Emissaries, the mysterious humanoids who are directing the invasion. Like Nefay here.
This adorably lethal young lady is but one of the Emissaries leading the horde of invaders. Just what she is and who has sent her is unknown, but one thing is certain -- when the enemy talks like she knows more about your mission than you do, then that's a bad sign."
I would get this if there was an english release, but this has absolutely nothing to do with the anime. It's a totally different story using the same character. It kinda feels like they're just trying to suck the life outa the fan-base.
And it will probobly work. And to think it all started with a little music video.

Yeah, I agree. It's not as if Black Rock Shooter dosen't have enough awesome characters to use, (just look at the wiki to see how many there are) so this whole new storyline is a little disappointing for me as it will be missing people like Dead Master, Strength and Dead Master, who are all supposed part of Black Rock Shooter.

NIS got publishing rights, so chances are we'll see an English release. But yes, I am disappoint, but I'll be playing it anyway. Alternate dimensions aren't bad every now and then... Unless there's something to the story we don't know about...

Understandable, but it should be noted that the BRS universe still has no actual backstory, it is pretty much an open source. The OVA was just one of those... seems more like a what if when you think about it. So as cute as Mato, Yomi and their friendship is; the intent of making BRS and DM school girls was anime typical and just shifted away the attention from both characters, leaving many fans and non-fans unsatisfied but hopeful.
With the game (at least from production pics) the focus seems to be on BRS, but the story... seems a bit goofy ^_^ but at least it is something. Kind of reminds me of Saikano.
