I can't say if I am surprised or not. Compared to the rest of the cast up to this point, the Higan Judgement team hardly had any screen time; to the point I believed they would be really downplayed when their time would come.
But maybe Dei Shirou is trying to make up for their lack of presence before by making them kick ass with lariats and tossing people out of the ring like they were ragdolls?

This follows canon where one of the stories, I think the lunar renegades one, mentions that Yamaxanadu is much, much stronger than even Reimu or Yukari.

Komachi's generally implied to be particularly strong as well.
And Komachi being Eiki's onelining badass agent and not just a lazy ferryman is canon too, as of a certain chapter of Wild and Horned Hermit. She's effectively usurped Mokou as my favorite Touhou char, even without hot wings.

True, but what I loved about Komachi is that despite her strength, she loves talking to people the most which an interesting trait for what I always imagined to be a charon type character.
Komachi has always struck me as the sanest character in the franchise, honestly. Less mentally erratic than most, less likely to attack you without pretenses, pretty friendly, and as a bonus to us non-Japanese, being a Shinigami means there are no language barriers involved in having a chat with her. Death greets us all the same as we join in the danse macabre. (Specifically, in unquoted small caps.)
If anticipating it were all you needed to defend against it, it would not be an effective attack. Surprise-reliant moves seldom finish a fight that's already begun. Mokou and Kaguya are simply unable to defend, between their being constantly kept off balance, Kaguya's arms being broken, and their enemies' raw strength and excellent coordination.

Indeed; I'm a fellow Komachi fan as well, fond of her personality as well as obvious soft round aspects of hers. She strikes me as someone you'd find in real life. After all we've all seen an attractive but lazy girl working at a store or something right?

Haha. I just want Mokou and Kaguya to win. I mean, mostly Mokou, but their team seems to have the "main character" sort of status. They're the ones with most of the character development going on, after all.

Is this referring to that song?
