Some of you need to understand that Mami doesn't want her friends to die as witches. I know its insane but what other options are there to take?

I like Mami, but she shouldn't have given up like that right away. At least try to look for a solution. Kyouko did it right.

Mami was the veteran, even in this timeline. She's supposed to be the one who's most capable of thinking clearly and rationally in difficult situations. Her reaction is understandable, but it's also disappointing.

This is why Mami never learned the truth about soul gems. Hence why Homura didnt save her, but tried to engage her in ep 3. Leading to a predicted (but still saddened by) death by Homura.

It has been explained before that being a veteran probably means only few years in the business in this case. Also Mami only put the cool and level-headed facade on in a desperate attempt to make friends, she was actually quite fragile.

After the events of TL 3, Homura decided not to rely on anyone anymore and keep Madoka from contracting, but TL 4 made it clear that she's incapable of defeating WPN by herself. She settled for a compromise - team up with as many MS as possible against WPN without actually telling them the truth, keep QB from contacting Madoka and stay reserved and distant to rule out the possibility of Madoka sacrificing herself to save her if she doesn't succeed. As a result, she just seems mysterious, nobody trusts her and she still loses every possible ally in the end.

    Fun fact:
Rewatch the show (especially the first ep) after you've seen 10. The amount of verbal landmines pretty much every character trips while talking to Homura is incredible. Mami and Madoka are especially harsh.

I'm not trying to bash Mami for it. I'm just giving reasons.

I guess it was blind optimism on my part. Madoka and Homura are very different in the previous timelines. So I thought Mami might be too. In retrospect Mami's actions make sense. But right at that moment, I was bummed.

If not for Homura, Madoka could still sacrifice herself to save everyone.

But thanks for pointing this out anyway, I hadn't even thought of this reason.

That's because Homura only tries to approach to Madoka, not Mami.

A lot of veterans act similarly, especially around fresh Recruits. The reason being is that veterans, especially those in units with high losses or attrition rates, such as the Pacific, cite similar things that Mami does: Strong feelings of isolation, a requirement to be stoic, a degree of selflessness and thinking as part of the unit, but I'd say Mami is close to being shellshocked. The reason being, fresh recruits, however much they annoy old vets, provide new life and a non-jaded point of view.

I've seen this a lot in Japanese fiction, but basically, its better to save your friends even at the expense of others, at least in some anime. You could say its selfish, but Kyuubey isn't evil, he is certainly cold, but his view is that life is cheap and if he is a higher life form, is it any more wrong of him to not think about the loss of a human life, or humans, than we do when we destroy a bee hive if it is too close to our house?

It fits Stephen Hawkins view that any relationship between a technologically superior culture and a less advanced culture will lead to the former exploiting or destroying the latter.

Just share my opinion on the modding here: This gif has spawned a very interesting discussion, and I fail to see how it is "pointless" inasmuch as ANY work of art posted here on danbooru could bee described as such. I get the feeling the modder might just not like GIFs in general here...

The bees would probably fight back if they could. They'd probably lose, just like we'd probably lose if we fought back. They bees don't care about our house or our well-being, and we don't we have to care about them. QB doesn't care about us, and we don't have to care about his plans.

Even if we are a lower life form, we are still capable of rejecting their ideas. If they are allowed to be selfish, then we can be just as selfish and choose to let the universe die just so that one little girl doesn't have to suffer.

The difference being is that Kyuubee's goal is to prevent the heat-death of the universe. Given the choice between the destruction of one planet and all of existence, it is clear the only choice for Kyuubee is to sacrifice us. My point is that we are not concerned for the fate of the Bees beyond them not being at our house. If they survive, if they die, we simply aren't interested because we have other concerns. The question isn't being selfish.

The key difference is that QB simply doesn't value life, and this is clear even in regard to his own life. His response to being murdered by Homu is annoyance, not anger, and it seems clear that he doesn't want to get involved. He isn't selfish, he just doesn't care about us any more than we care about a bee hive.

The post would have been better off flagged as Major spoiler or something.

This is the first time i seen so many spoiler-marked comments. Wow...

First of all, selfish was the word you used to describe it. I just rolled with it.

Second, I don't care about his goal. At all. If you think QB's mission to save the universe is heroic and noble and stuff, that's perfectly fine. I don't, because I don't care about the damn universe. I don't want these girls to suffer and die so QB can meet his energy quota. I'd rather have them in Mami's apartment drinking tea and eating cake while the whole universe burns around them.

QB is in clear opposition to what I want. So it's perfectly fair for me to consider him the enemy. If you're on his side, that's your deal.

You don't approve/keep posts because the comments they spawned (not now anyway).
As for the gif it's deleted because of nothing stands out to make it worth having. Other reapproved madoka gifs are better.
Also, you have the reason there.
