...And Mokou just stands there. XD I guess centuries of immortality have taught her not to bother with things like defense or avoiding... Still, maybe she'll do something other than take the hit in the next strip.

On closer examination, you can almost see her thinking "Well, shit."

    "Ah, shit. This'll sting."

Well, it'll probably still end up as being a great surprise tactic against Utsuho. She'll not be used to things getting back up after roasting them, and it's doubtful that she's been told (or at least remember) about Mokou's immortality.

I would luzl if the rest of the fight is them trying to find Koishi and finally defeating her only for Mokou to finish rezz'ing from Okuu's attack and blindsiding them (that or they defeat mokou with some effort only to waste time trying to find Koishi while Mokou recovers)!

Don't forget that Mokou can still lose from the amount of pain like she did in IN, her immortality doesn't make her unbeatable.

Utsuho's opening attack is throwing a SUN. regardless of Immortality or plot armor, anyone would respond to a celestial body being fired at them with "Well, shit." and o_o

She does die. The Immortality granted by the Houri Elixir allows unlimited regeneration. So long as a single cell remains she can regenerate completely. How else does the conflict between Moku and Kaguya state that they kill each other equally.

And during her Extra stage battle, she is killed each time her bar reaches zero only to completely regenerate seconds afterwards. She only gave up after nine bars because she's been killed so much she couldn't take the sensations of dying and reviving so many times.

Pretty sure she comes back even if all cells are gone. This is magic, after all. Otherwise she'd've tried this already.

I believe that [citation needed] the Hourai Elixer grants immortality by blurring the line between your mortal body and immortal soul, so it's not tied to cells. Souls are immortal and beyond destruction, so a Hourai immortal is totally and completely immune to death in the permanent sense.

It still makes sense to say that Kaguya and Mokou kill each other, though, since the destruction they deal to one another easily qualifies as fatal.

The Hourai Elixir doesn't do regenerative-type at all. What you're referring to is something what Buu from DragonBall would does. He wasn't immortal either, by the way. Regenerative types aren't immortal, because all it takes to kill them is to get rid of every cell. It's just a tough-to-kill-mortal with fast-healing. The elixir is more of a resurrective-type. Even if you obliterated every cell, she won't die.

It's a fight to the death, but nobody ever dies, so that's why the fight never ends. Only postponed over, and over again.

This is much closer to the truth, with both statements. My idea is that the Hourai Elixir, when she tasted it, changed Mokou somehow. Maybe it got rid of the border of life and death (hence her boasting to Yukari about it), or maybe there simply isn't any death to play out. As if the elixir cut off the death part of her completely, and she just comes back to life again when she's supposed to die over and over again, like a broken record player...

Whatever the imaginary mechanics of the elixer, the way they apply here is probably going to go as follows:

    A: Mokou gets vaporized
    B: Mokou kicks ass

    In that order.

Okay, we can all see Mokou getting up from getting hit by a sun. The question is if her clothes survive getting hit by a sun (Okay, her clothes are supposed to be fireproof, but I'd imagine a sun is a bit beyond what those talismans are made for)

So, if we're really lucky, we'll get semi-naked Mokou kicking ass and taking names.

Her pants (and hair, I guess) are fireproof. Her shirt has no such countermeasures to fire. Even in game, it looks singed.

    Mokou's theory on Hourai Immortality

That kinda sounds like my theory of it, though I think I have a slightly more concrete (though ephemeral) explanation for the process.

My theory, in a nutshell? Because of how 'death' is removed from a Hourai Immortal's body, reality no longer has a set result for otherwise-fatal actions -- meaning someone like Mokou can be killed, but not actually die from it (sorry, Shirou) -- and their body gets reset to the most recent workable state (not that 'workable' and 'healthy' are not always the same thing), and this process can be artistically rendered as anything from a magic '*pop* "KAGUYAAAAA"' to '*Mokou the anatomy textbook model graphically regenerates from nothing* "KAGUYAAAAA"' -- no matter how depicted, the cause and result are exactly the same.

tl;dr, Hourai Immortality is 'System Restore' immortality, but can be easily (or thusly) depicted as appearing like 'regenerative' immortality to the naked eye, so let's just resume observance of the MST3K Mantra and be done with it.

I strongly agree. This also explains why she can feel the pain of being blown to oblivion after being resurrected.
If it resets because her reality can no longer set a result for fatal actions, it makes sense to be reset to the most workable state. And that is just before she's blown to oblivion, but just after being hit. This would also explain why she'd feel incredibly weak for just a moment after the reset.

That's subjective. Shiki can kill anything that has a determined end, and exists in Gaia's system. He cannot kill anything that have; A) already died, since they're already considered dead by the Akasha Records, they have no lines. B) are alien to Gaia, like ORT, C) have resurrecting powers, as they still have lines, but they revive. D) are too strong for him to see the lines, like the top five Dead Apostle Ancestors.

Actually, you're right, there are no true immortals in Type-MOON, just various types of death ignorance.

    I was about to say...

In Mokou's case, she DOESN'T have a determined end, so she still can't die even by his standards. I don't want to say it because it'll get a rise out of people, but if she were to be in Nasuverse, she'd probably be the only unkillable one.

Well, anything alien to Gaia, like the Aristotles would also count. Even if she wasn't a Houri immortal, Kaguya wouldn't have any lines, neither would Erin or Reisen. And most of the elder Yokai in Gensokyo would also not show any lines, aside from many of them ben thousands of years old, their power would more or less fry Shiki's brain if he even tried to comprehend their lines of death.
