lying is a possibility. on the other hand, patchouli is a powerful magician. it wouldn't be a big stretch to think that she cured each of those curses herself.

She regularly comes up with new spells putting them into books and adding them to the library, it'd hardly be surprising that there'd be a few unpleasant ones here and there.
