That's too bad; it would have been nice to have the epilogue here for completeness (and translation).
Oh, well, Marisa's daughter blushing over Rinnosuke was cute.

This entire story is actually about the tragedy of long life. Anyway, kudos for Rinnosuke for Doing the Right Thing(tm).

I knew it was about tragedy of long life, it kinda took me sometime to figure it out though.
Since rinnosuke is a half human half youkai he would life a lot longer then marisa.
i think its just me but, its quite sad to see rinnosuke depressed.
since his character trait is quite serious
(at least thats what i got in Cola)

And not stealing Marisa at the last minute? Yeah, that would have been a little rude. But for the rest, post #468861 takes the opposite stance, making this story that much more depressing.

Yeah, and he's not even convey his feelings, what the hell Kourin? Dont talk about people happiness if you can't be happy and let yourself in sadness. Mannosuke will cry if he saw you, playing safe for yourself isn't manly at all, Kourin.

Sorry ... got caught by the story and even I hate this Kourin, still gotta admit that this doujin was a great one.
    *thumbs up*

That post sits right into the romantic/idealistic end of love stories. This story went for the realistic/pragmatic end. You know, the stories don't end at the "and then they were happy forever." part. Rinnosuke and Marisa would need to go through the whole harrowing experience of seeing a loved one wither while the other remain young, and then they'd have children that would pass the same tragedy forward. It rather sucks, in fact. Marisa got over her broken heart and had a happy life, Kourin got over his broken heart and could just notice that Keine is probably still there, half-youkaish like him, single, and horny.

    Sorry about the last horny.

"Better to have loved and lost"? Yes, there is tragedy in long life, and they'd have to face that fact, but all the happy memories made together have to count for something, right?

(Sorry about the downvote; clicked the wrong link.)

That sentiment reminds me very clearly of Geranium by Can't Fix the Helmet. It was in an exchange between Remilia and Rinnosuke that that feeling and reasoning was brought up. I found it touching myself.

    ....haha.
    Rinnosuke-san,
to celebrate Marisa tonight, let's drink enough sake to fill a bath.
... and I'm grateful that this day of her departure is a good day.
    ...Please be easy on me.
