Eirin better not have sprinkled her shady drug on that bamboo shoot or even half an hour is late for Akyuu. (Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth, chapter 24)
I can fap to this, but...god damn, Akyuu deserves this the least. She's already a sickly/dying little girl, she doesn't deserve being killed like this...

Now if it was Tewi, on the other hand...
At least we can take comfort in knowing that whoever did this to Akyuu made the Yama his enemy. One would have to hope that Are's next reincarnation doesn't retain this memory. It might be recorded in history though. Aah, Keine would be scarred for life.
I'd count a few other names as being the least-deserving, by the way. Keine and those two immortals included.

I mean, from the looks of it, can't she just stand up... and walk away?
I think the way her wrist is tied makes her unable to do so.
What I do fail to understand is why we've been assuming she really dies like this. (Well, Occam's Razor does favor the explanation that nothing else happened and the shoots continued to grow through her, but....) Unless the artist draws a follow-up detailing otherwise, we can always assume somebody came along and saved her.
IHoster said: Unless there are some kind of nail between the shackles, you can see that they would not pose any kind of problem and would just slide of the bamboo.
As for the weight, it seems like there are only bamboo sprouts in the caskets, so that shouldn't be an issue either...
Don't rightly know, but at any rate, the artist intended that to be inescapable for Akyuu. Those chains around the neck shackle might be connected to some heavy weight or something.
Artist's tag does say "this becomes guro afterwards" after all. I don't know whether it means it becomes guro 'at this rate' or was meant to be a definitive statement, but I do feel quite horrible reading that.

I'm not very familiar with it, but that tag is not locked, which means it is unlikely to have been added by the author.
The weight of the baskets forces her down on the sprout while she's tied between the poles. Eventually, she won't be able to support the weight and... uh, well, you know. After that, the bamboo growth turns it into guro.
Akyuu does have a weak and untrained body, also with each reincarnation she gets weaker and weaker and dies sooner and sooner. The family or the Yama's really need to figure out something soon. Or just have Akyuu reborn as a celestial or something. I think she deserves it. Is she going to have to be a walking history book her whole "life"?
IHoster said: I am no expert on these plants, but I doubt that the sprouts would be so heavy that 8-9 of them would weight you down.
But it is not like I am an expert on Touhou characters either, for all I know she could have a weak (note: not untrained) body.
But well, IF the author did add the tag "this becomes guro afterwards", and that is what is going to happen here, anything I say is moot...
Hmm, according to Wikipedia, each shoot weighs about 1~2.5kg, and I think those shoots are the bigger(=heavier) ones. (Correct me if wrong.) A basketful of them, plus the pole and the metal shackles, wouldn't exactly be light. Especially for Akyuu's weak body.
The artist probably intended that Akyuu can't free herself anyway. In that case what you say wouldn't be moot, but criticizing the feasibility of this thing.
Ah, so this went into the Save Me... pool. Personally I think this image quite deserves to be the first post in this pool for various reasons. The context in this image is pretty disturbing, that "Save me" so aptly describes it and I really couldn't get this off my head all day.
Edit) Ah... "This becomes guro afterwards" tag is removed now. And artist comment seems to mention something about helping her.

Shikieiki isn't the only enemy you can make by tormenting Akyuu. She's also very good friends with Yukari. I don't need to explain how UTTERLY SUICIDAL attacking anyone the gaphag cares about is. That speaks for itself. Whoever set this trap up will die horribly, and the only remains left of them will likely be turds in Chen's litter box.

With Yukari and Shikieiki as allies/friends, that's very possible. Whoever did this on the other hand, there will be no salvation as odds are, Yukari'll kill them painfully and Eiki'll have a special place in the current hell for them.
Since no one apperantly knows this (At least I couldn't see any comments about it), bamboo grows really fast. It can grow several decimeters per day if the soil is good. So if you leave a person on it like this, well... It's growing into her, she's not sinking onto it.

Asrah said: Bamboo growth is about 1m / day. No Dehydration or starvation happens that fast. Someone must help her in 2-4 hours or its too late :/
Not only that. The whole debate is revolving around the bamboo growth. It's hard to even imagine the level of not-very-brightness a person must possess to not notice.
