We have spirits possessing humans, maybe this is a case of a human possessing a karaksa.

I'm theorizing that when the girl died, she and the umbrella (which was probably on the verge of becoming a tsukumogami) merged into one entity that is Kogasa. So while Kogasa indeed is a karakasa, the 'human part' recognizes her past as herself.

Well, it doesn't matter. This was really something. A short, simple work, but overwhelming with so much emotion. Wow.
