Takahata Isao (้ซ็ ๅฒ, October 29, 1935 โ April 5, 2018) was a Japanese film director, screenwriter and producer. He co-founded Studio Ghibli in 1985 with Miyazaki Hayao, Suzuki Toshio, and Tokuma Yasuyoshi.
As a director for Studio Ghibli, his works include Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies), Omohide Poro Poro (Only Yesterday), Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko (Pom Poko), and Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (The Tale of the Princess Kaguya).
