kaga (battleship)
Portrayals of the Japanese aircraft carrier Kaga as a battleship instead. This has historical roots, as Kaga was originally planned and constructed as a Tosa-class battleship, before that class of ships was rendered superfluous (while still under construction) by the 1922 Washington Naval Treaty. Tosa, the lead ship of the class, was expended as an armor test target, but Kaga was spared that fate by the destruction of the battlecruiser-turned-carrier Amagi in the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, which led to her hull being converted into a carrier instead.
Depictions of "Battleship Kaga" in these parts are usually variations on the character as seen in Kantai Collection or Azur Lane (AL does eventually introduce Kaga as a battleship), sporting a battleship's rigging instead of her usual flight deck and bow (This rigging is often visually similar to Nagato's, since the real-life Tosa class was an improved version of the Nagato class).
