ks-23
Russian: Карабин специальный, 23 мм (Special Carbine, 23 mm)
A Soviet pump action shotgun. It fires 23×75mmR cartridge, which is equal to 6.27 gauge using the British and American standards of shotgun gauges and approximately 4 gauge using the current European standards. Officially designated by the Soviet/Russian military as a carbine due to its rifled barrel.
The KS-23 was designed in the 1970s for suppressing prison riots. It was created by TsNIITochMash. Its barrel were made from flawed, rejected 23 mm aircraft gun barrels. The KS-23 began to see use during the mid-1980s by several MVD forces. The KS-23 is commonly available in two variants: Traditional wooden fixed stock and pistol gripped with side-folding stock.
