The following cannot be used to describe the same object or situation

- bare pectorals <-> (topless male, nude, breastless clothes or underwear only)
- bottomless <-> bare legs
- greyscale <-> grey theme
- hands in opposite sleeves <-> sleeves past wrists
- hairband <-> headband
- jersey <-> track jacket
- looking at viewer <-> (facing viewer or closed eyes or blindfold)
- nude <-> (bare shoulders or bare legs or bare arms or topless or bottomless)
- official alternate costume <-> alternate costume
- official alternate hairstyle <-> alternate hairstyle
- official alternate hair length <-> alternate hair length
- (off-shoulder shirt/dress/sweater) <-> (strapless shirt/dress or tube top) <-> (sleeveless shirt/dress/sweater)
- playboy bunny <-> (kittysuit or rabbit costume)
- solo <-> (solo focus or multiple views)
- striped bikini <-> white bikini
- topless <-> (nude or bare shoulders or bare arms)
- x-ray <-> cross-section

Specific mistagging
Places
- changing room/dressing room/fitting room/locker room
- Not to be used interchangeably for just any rooms where a character would get dressed and/or undressed.
- Changing rooms are the ones where people remove and store their clothes, usually when going to a pool or an onsen.
- Dressing rooms are the ones used by on-stage performers to change in and out of their costumes.
- Fitting rooms are the tiny ones in clothing stores where individual customers can try on clothes before buying them.
- Locker rooms are similar to changing rooms, but lockers must be visible.
Objects
- animal ears
- Do not use for actual animals, which have these by default.
- costume switch
- Applicable only if there are multiple characters, to be sure there is a switch.
- Not applicable on single-character cosplay pictures. Add the appropriate cosplay tag instead.
- Not applicable on parent-child pairs of single-character cosplay posts.
- Not the same as a "costume change."
- crescent moon
- Do not tag for just crescent shaped objects, e.g. crescent hair ornament
- goat horns
- Commonly mistagged on sheep horns. Goat horns traditionally do not curl all the way around.
- naked towel
- Character must be wearing the towel, not just having it on their person
- no humans
- Does not apply to human-like characters such as humanoid robots and furries.
- off-shoulder jacket/off-shoulder coat/off-shoulder cardigan
- Should be used when the jacket, coat, or cardigan is naturally designed with a low and wide-cut neckline.
- Do not use for open/partially open jackets/coats/cardigans that are simply worn hanging off the upper arms.
- red glasses
- See either red-framed eyewear or red-tinted eyewear
- see-through clothes/transparent
- See-through is for clothing, transparent is for other objects.
- short hair
- Not for shoulder-length hair
- silhouette
- Not for mere shadows behind objects; should be mostly featureless
- topless
- Only for female characters; use topless male for males
- vaginal
- If female character's genital is visible, tagging pussy is mandatory.
- miko
- Only to be used if a character is wearing the actual traditional outfit of a miko: a hakama skirt (almost always entirely red) and white kosode or kimono. Otherwise, use nontraditional miko instead.
Meta
- casual
- Not for characters that always appear in casual clothing
- contemporary
- Not for characters that always appear in contemporary settings
- humanization
- Refers to characters that were already humanoid to begin with being depicted as fully human; depictions of non-humanoids as humans belong under personification
- orc and ogre
- Orcs are commonly depicted with a green-skinned muscular or chubby body and sports a tusks, while ogres usually have a fat body and lacks any tusks.
- text focus
- Only when text is a major component of an image
Actions
- squirting liquid
- Not for female ejaculation
- facing viewer
- Only for characters with closed or covered eyes
- floating
- When on water, use afloat instead
- partially submerged
- Not for just sitting in shallow water
- air guitar
- This is for pretending to play a guitar without holding anything. Pretending to play guitar with anything but a guitar is using an unconventional guitar.
- riding
- Only for characters riding an animal or a motor vehicle, use girl on top or boy on top, and cowgirl position for posts depicting a person having sex on top of another person.
- takeoff
- Only for characters or aircrafts leaving the ground. Use undressing for images depicting someone taking off their clothes.
