Second game of the Touhou series. Part of the PC-98 era of Touhou games.

Hakurei Reimu has returned from "training" in the mountains when she found her Hakurei Shrine overran by ghosts and traditional youkai. She goes down to investigate the source of the invasion, leading her to an evil spirit (Mima) and her apprentice (Kirisame Marisa).

The game also marks the debut of Touhou's secondary protagonist Kirisame Marisa, appearing here as the boss of Stage 4.
