sorry for going over your work but it seems that I decided to start translating this right after you did. I think overall you do better than me, though I think that test of courage is better than moment of truth, though if you disagree feel free to change it back.
Anyone is welcome to go through my notes as I'm no where near fluent in Japanese, really. I saw that きもだめし = test of courage in the dictionaries I checked, but I wasn't sure if there would be a clear relation between that and the idea of Kogasa scaring people. Something about Yukari's summer talk is probably just going over my head, though, so that works too.
I think she's probably referring to activities like sending kids on a trail through the woods at night, to reach an old (possibly abandoned, usually said to be haunted) shrine. This sort of thing shows up in quite a few places (mostly as what would be a summer-camp kind of thing in the US), and often has teachers or other assistants providing extra scares as "mysterious figure in the mist" or whatever, so the opportunity for Kogasa becomes obvious.
