Agreed, but I hate Youko in schoolgirl costume, why do people insist in drawing her like that. She only wears those for the three first episodes(honestly the first novel is very subpar compared to the others).
i have to agree with unicogirl on that. the uniform seemed more like a metaphor of her not accepting the strange new world she came into. even though it was held on briefly, but that was when her outlook on things was beginning to change little by little.
For me, it feels like the artists are being more like "omg! so kawaii serafuku desu!!", as unicogirl said. I'm sure everyone who is familiar with this masterpiece prefers Youko after she develops her character and accepts the new world, which is her real home. It feels like the artists are saying "screw character development, I prefer schoolgirls ^_____^".
