Now that I've seen the series, I don't understand how Kyuubee is an asshole.
I got the feeling that he is detached, certainly, but I'm certain hes not anything close to being human. Given his reaction, I don't think hes a jerk just that he legitimately doesn't understand why they don't see the practicality of the soul gem. The only problem I foresee is that the nature of the soul gem is that you either need a constant stream of recruits to replace veterans, or that the witches are of such number that it is pointless to kill them all

Its not just about the gem. It's about his constant unchanging attitude. I could understand if he felt bad afterwards or at least tried to understand, but this isn't the case. If anything, he just presses on the girls harder and harder each episode. Not to mention that he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Also a lot of the subtext has implied a few other things that he might very well be planning or doing that would cement his status, not as an asshole, but as the big bad.
Dullahan Mami supporting from behindIsn't it more practical that way?
I could never understand why humans are so obsessed about souls.Don't you want to treat it like this?
Everybody, crush it!!If Kyubey is a girl like this, I might like herAlas, he's not female.
