I always sort of assumed that, at some point when the memory capacity of the technology allowed it, the intellegence quality of the pokemon would be split into two or three stats, say, "memory", "creativity/innovation" etc. these stats would determine move retention. A pokemon with a very low "memory" stat would occasionally "forget" a random move (i.e. the game would be programmed to randomy delete an imputted move on character with very low memory). On the other hand one with high "creativity/innovation" would occasionally learn a new move spontaneously incuding ones not available any other way (I also sort of assumed that there would eventually be moves that would only be learnable by a pokemon that already knew certain specific moves (i.e. those moves would sort of be combinations) of other moves' High memory stats could also extend the time you coud put between two turn moves (make them three, four or higher) moves and allow you to put other moves in between the beginning and end (i.e. high memory would allow a pokemon to multitask, start a two turn move (like solar beam) do another move and then finish the solar beam.
Honestly, it would be great if Nintendo made a more "complicated" pokemon game like that. And by complicated, basically more realistic I guess to the pokemon's actual biology and what they are stated to do. Rapidash is stated to have hoofs that are just as hard as diamond so Rapidash should totally get STAB from Stomp or something.
1. "The more intelligent a Pokeyman is, the more moves it can learn." 2. "The more intelligent a Pokeyman is, the more moves it can use per turn." 3. "Dumb Pokeymans randomly forget moves." 4. "This is what will happen in the future, God willing."

Oh I had a LOT more ideas of waht Nintendo shoud have done. How about if a pokemon had a high "independence" rate, a low "loyalty" rating and a low "like" rating it would not only ignore you, but in 2x2 battles it would actually target your other pokemon. And a few combo movest
Ring of Light (solar beam + double team) like solar beam, but opponent cannot dodge it (hits 100% of the time)
Bladed hurricane (swords dance 2X followed by slash) basically this would be the Pokemon equvalent of Voldo's "deadly rose" from Soul Edge/Caliber
Slash Strafe (swords dance + X-scissor) same idea but this time the Voldo analog would be "Ratcatcher".

I believe nintendo is already trying the whole move combination thing. Especially with the addition of even a triple battle system. The problem is that even with the newest system changes to both double and triple batttles, most people are still just doing single battles.
Honestly, I actually find Double/Triple battles more fun than single battles. As some pokemon can buff/AOE and stuff. Makes it more RPG like, and I'm a big RPG player.
personally i would like a more adult-oriented pokemon. not XXX or anything just you know a more thought provoking plot, have certain pokemon seem more intimidating (like in some of pics i've seen here), a player charactor that ISN'T FUCKING USELESS, plus the advanced battle machanics you guys are talking about.

I dont know if Nintendo is going to make changes like that but i would prefer they would. So far its been the same shit with the plot. Catch pokemon, fight gym leaders rinse repeat. The only pokemon game that tried something new in terms of story was Pokemon Colliseum. Also, i would like to see some changes in the battle mechanics. Black and White made it more like an RPG with their triple battles and Audino(pokemon's white mage).
Sadly the same shit with plot sells a lot, and nintendo believes in "If it's not broken, then I doesn't need repairs" so unless a big revolt from the fans or if by some strange force pokemon games stop selling we wont see any huge changes soon
Given that its geared for a new generation of players for every generation, and that most of the hardcore following will lose their minds if any significant change is made to the formula, they have a cash cow and killing it is madness.
That's what spin offs are for. Which Nintendo has done repeatidly with pokemon games already. It's not that big of a stretch for Nintedo to actually design a more adult Pokemon Manga special like game as a spin off. As someone before me said, they actually tried a more story orientaed game with Pokemon Colliseum.

I'm not talking about the plot, I'm talking about the awful ideas for game mechanics. Adult =/= overly complicated and frustrating

I think it should be like FFXIII with how the pokemon can walk around and be visible. when oyou get into a battle though it switches to the ffxii engine and you fight while controlling your pokemon. that way the speed stat does a alittle more than just determine who goes first. Also XII fighting iengin can allow for double/triple battles as well, and if they could make it online that would orgasmic XD... my pants!!!
Weather effects, terrain effects, status effects, other more obscure status effects, Toxic, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Stealth Rock, same type attack bonus, double battles, triple battles, rotation battles or whatever the hell they're called, natures, IVs, abilities, Dream World abilities, changing abilities, physical/special split, pseudo-Hazing, actual Hazing, retreating, Baton Passing, trapping, persistent effects, choice items, gravity, switching types, and probably a few dozen things I've neglected to mention, and you guys think Pokemon isn't complex enough?

You just described pokemon HGSS, Yellow version, and Mystery Dungeon.

Again, Mystery Dungeon, and maybe pokemon rumble(not sure), alternatively, you can make a game with RPG maker

And even after all that, there's still Catch Rate, Chance of Appearance, Location of Appearance, Gender, Held Items, Shiny, PokeRus, World Map moves, Evolution, Trading, Trade Effects, Egg Groups, Egg Moves, and god knows what else. I know they're not battle-related, but it's still played a very important role in the game system.
