Lineart and Monochrome

Posted under General

I notice in the wiki for monochrome it says "Never use this tag when describing a simple line drawing without any color at all. Use 'lineart' instead." However, looking at the lineart tag as it is now, 73 out of 131 are also tagged "monochrome", so there is some inconsistency. Should the lineart tag be purged of "monochrome" tags?

They don't have to be exclusive.

Oh, I agree there. I asked because I was confused by the wiki and was wondering if the other regular users thought they should be exclusive as was stated there.

That bit in monochrome was added by nanami in September, if you check the history. I don't remember any discussion about it on the forum.

Though looking at it, nanami had "outline", and Kayako later changed it to "lineart".

Looking at "outline" and "lineart" tags, they seem to be referring to the same kind of thing - should there be an alias?

sorry to necro bump. i'll just ask if the tag alias outline -> lineart will push through? it seems to be a while now and somewhat the outline tag has expanded its coverage and gone beyond the simple line drawings without any color.

the current outline has no wiki and has 151 posts.

post #2836 has "white outline" that can be tagged as cutout the same for some posts.

post #168608 has a "thicker smooth outside stroke" following the character. i don't know if we currently have a tag for this.

post #292545 like one above but colored and not so smooth one.

post #351394 has lineart and colored versions in one image.

post #799896 seems to be a reversal of lineart. don't know of a tag for this.

post #801066 has white light stroke. post #1023744 has a heavy one.

some recent posts like post #936981 and post #927189 can fall better to cutout or dotted outline instead than outline.

post #1011593, post #1020718, and post #957063 have feather-effect or aura-like outlines.

post #783957 has colored thin outline but i think it could fall into neon trim unless the term is for clothing only. unlike post #168608 mentioned above, there's a purple trace too inside the character (under her breast).

do all those that don't fall under lineart, cutout, or dotted outline should remain inside plain outline?

or they are not tag worthy enough and simple background is just right for them?

or they are just mistagged and im missing the correct tag for the posts involved?

i'm planning in cleaning the outline tag but i would ask others opinion first before moving things. thanks.
