New tag: for that shadow under the eyes thing

Posted under General

Maybe something like shaded_face?

Having that shadow there really seems to cover several different expressions depending on the rest of the context of the face. Depending on the eyes, mouth, and a few lines the character could either be sick to their stomach, glaring, boiling with rage, depressed, thinking dark thoughts, etc. It's more like an enhancement of other expressions than a stand alone expression.

Focusing on face rather than eyes is a good start, since it covers the whole top half of the face and sometimes then some.

Honestly, I think whatever we use it's going to be non-intuitive and will be one of the many tags that you only get to know by stumbling across it. So instead of getting it perfect, just get something easy to type and remember. shaded_face doesn't sound half bad (I was going to say facial_shadow which probably isn't so good), but keep coming up with suggestions.

shaded_face works for me, I was thinking something like shadow_over_face or something but I guess I forgot to post that suggestion. It's never going to be absolutely perfect, but that seems to cover most of the bases.

The one thing I was hoping for really was that there's a Japanese term for it.

I didn't think of that. I don't believe there's enough difference between the two to really matter, though, and thought shadow over eyes would be the more descriptive choice. But either way is fine.

Turn_pale seems to be aimed more at when the top half of the face turns blue... But I do see a lot of overlap in the practical use of it. I think turn pale is a really bad term for the phenomenon we're trying to tag, though, so I'd rather take the shaded_face-ish ones from turn_pale and re-tag them.

EDIT: And I also think in some cases both tags could be used, if there's doubt whether it's shade or pale-ness (like post #590765, maybe).
