black/grey/white_background in greyscale posts

Posted under General

There is a clause in the greyscale wiki stating colour tags like black eyes and black hair is discouraged because everything looks black or white under greyscale. This is fine but I think tags like black background should be an exception. People searching that tag would want to see posts like post #7317724 (what made me create this forum post), because the background is simply black. The original intention of this rule in the wiki was reasonable, but some people have taken it too far and disallow any colour tags in greyscale posts where they would be useful. This is why I am proposing an exception in the wiki stating black background, grey background, and white background are fine to include in greyscale posts. Please let me know your thoughts.

I think there is a huge visual difference between monochrome posts like post #7299647 and post #7289243. A different "vibe" so to speak, and I personally think people should be allowed to use black_background and white_background for filtering them.

The only fear is having this leak into stuff like grey_hair or other color tags, but by itself the background tags seem reasonable.

Tagging the background has been the exception to the "no colour tagging on monochrome stuff" rule as far as I can remember.

I didn't know that has already been the exception. I've just updated the greyscale wiki to make this clearer.
