Deleting one's own posts

Posted under General

Ah, I just posted something about it in forum #5169 as a by the way. I think since the database entry is saved, it's generally not seen as a good idea since the image was accepted (and therefore "belongs", in a sense), and nobody else will be able to re-upload it. The feature is there so I guess you're free to use it, but it's probably best if you didn't unless you uploaded something really awful.

Anyway, in that thread I said:

By the way, I think that if a poster deletes his own post, it should also delete the entry in the database for that image. That way, someone could delete something they're just not comfortable with having on their "record", and then someone else can upload it instead.

If it starts functioning like that, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be allowed to delete your own uploads for whatever reason you want.

That could be easily abused, especially since deletion only removes the image not the post itself. Plus the hash still remains preventing it from being re-uploaded. Makes too much of a mess, it's fine as it is imo.
