I support this, but what's with the wave dash (~), which is used to separate title and subtitle?
title: Touhou Shinreibyou
subtitle: Ten Desires
Characters like umlauts are not used in tags for obvious reasons, but I would still want to separate them. (Also implicate all games to touhou and print works to touhou)
About Touhou Wiki: They also use western name order, different romanization rules and believe "Unthinkable Natural Law" is an acceptable title.
Edit: Oh, yes. What I also mean is that those tag choices are heavily influenced by the "touhou wiki". I don't think we ever discussed those choices.

I doubt anyone ever bothered to enact any real Touhou tag policy. As long as I've been here the tags were the way they were and are usually self-regulating with little need for intervention. They do seem influenced by Touhou Wiki though.
The one exception to the naming rule that I can currently think of is Touhou Hisoutensoku, which is simply for lack of an English subtitle.
I wouldn't resist a change, along with firming up policy on what should be tagged with game names, but it's not all that broken the way it is now, either.
I think that's a full width tilde ZUN technically uses, not a wavedash. Tildes have long been used as an acceptable alternative for either, however, and are used often enough on the site with no problem. Touhou Shinreibyou ~ Ten Desires would work fine.

I don't mind if we go with romanized name or English name, but please only keep one. Tags should be succinct while giving a clear message, everything else can be explained in the wiki.
Imagine mahou shoujo madoka magica ~ puella magi madoka magica.
Given the lengths of the titles, it might also be worthwhile to consider having shortcuts for them. Perhaps something like /th13 -> Touhou_Shinreibyou_~_Ten_Desires or use /t13, since a /th## setup would run into the issue that /th2 is the shortcut for to_heart_2.

I hate long tags, they makes the tag column looks cumbersome. "Ten desires" is specific enough to be series name, why do we have to change to "touhou shinreibyou ten desires"? With what you suggest, we should have:
the embodiment of scarlet devil -> touhou koumakyou ~ the embodiment of scarlet devil
perfect cherry blossom -> touhou youyoumu ~ perfect cherry blossom
imperishable night -> touhou eiyashou ~ imperishable night
phantasmagoria of flower view -> touhou kaeizuka ~ phantasmagoria of flower view
etc.
That's about Touhou, if this is made into policy we will need to change all other series that have english subtitle and make them full name. That just looks silly to me. I mean, both part of the name is official, why do we want to make it hard on ourself by putting both fully in view? If I want technical information like name in kanji, full official name, etc., I'd head over to the specific wiki and read there.
If you want to use Japanese title, go ahead and use touhou shinreibyou only. Actually it would make things nicer because: 1) keep Danbooru rule of using romanized Japanese/Chinese series name and 2) all the touhou tags will be kept together under "touhou_*" like those "tales_of_*" (nicer to look in a post, nicer to search for).

No, they won't:
東方文花帖 ~ Shoot the Bullet
ダブルスポイラー ~ 東方文花帖
妖精大戦争 ~ 東方三月精
東方儚月抄 ~ Silent Sinner in Blue
東方儚月抄 ~ Cage in Lunatic Runagate
東方儚月抄 ~ 月のイナバと地上の因幡
Why did we even discuss the use of Fairy Wars / Great Fairy Wars when the title is Yousei Daisensou? I need confirmation on whether とうほうさんげつせい or とうほうさんげっせい is "correct".

It was settled on Fairy Wars because, while not part of the title, it was where the English subtitle always is in-game.
Sangessei is assumed to have been a one-off typo.
I don't see it mentioned anywhere, so: I'm quite sure we have previously decided not to use tilde-subtitles in our tagging. The issue came up with visual novel titles, which tend to excel at it, though I can't readily find the relevant threads. Will paste them here when I do. But the point was the primary title should be enough, unless there are more installments distinguished only by the subtitle, in which case we make up a succint enough composite title.
