Glitch with post "score"?

Posted under General

I noticed that when you favorite a post, it'll gain a +1 in score, you can then add another +1 by pressing the vote up button.

So in a way you can vote positive twice in each post.

I doubt it's supposed to be that way but I can't be certain.

EDIT: If you un-favorite a post it goes down a score as well. Just throwing that out there.

Yes, it works that way. You can vote twice.
Same goes to downvote and removal from favorites.

It is intentional. You can influence a post's score by -1, 0, 1, or +2 (with favorite). The +1 from favoriting is reversible. It has worked more or less this way since the beginning of the voting system. Though safeguards to prevent multiple votes are better now than they once were.

The linked post concerns -1 votes due to flagging, which is something relatively newer, and rather contentious.

To allow a person to give a little more influence to a post they consider their favorite than they can to one they merely like enough to vote for? It's nothing deeper or more convoluted than that.

It's also worth mentioning that post-votes (and comment-votes) expire after two weeks, so it's technically possible to perpetually vote on one.

Really? After reading what you just posted I went back to check some really old posts, and they seem to have maintained their score. Did you mean in 2 weeks after voting, we can vote again?

Yeah, a job runs on the server every day that checks for votes that are more than 2 weeks old, and then purges them. It doesn't affect posts' scores - it just allows allows you to re-vote on them. [0] and [1].

Hopefully Danbooru2'll have persistent votes.

Different voting weights make sense, but why only positive?

Well since the votes you make expire in 2 weeks, but the score stays. You can technically down-vote a post all you want. I can see why Shinjidude said it's best not to make this a widely-known fact, "for moral reasons"
