Reason: These *_insertion tags don't have wikis, so the way I've come to understand them has been as non-body objects (strap-ons being a gray area, admittedly), and as more a state of those objects or the objects themselves, rather than "inserting". If that's agreeable, then these would fall under those other tags.
A quick search brought up forum #75988, which didn't seem to come to a consensus, and forum #46944, which touched on them.
I could also see the (aliased) object_insertion tag fully taking the *al_insertion tags' place, with the above implications becoming aliases instead. But, that'd look to hinge on how Danbooru define "penetrations" and "insertions" in regards to penises, other body parts, non-human body parts, non-living objects, robot body parts...
(And for good measure, I've used double_insertion on a handful of posts as an analogue to double_penetration, but I doubt this tag's potential.)
EDIT: I guess that... Implicating anal_fingering -> anal ...would also fit the latter's wiki?
The wikis for the various penetration/insertion tags confuse me a little. Your suggestion makes sense and my gut reaction is that the implications should go through, but I want to see if others know something I'm missing about how anal and vaginal were intended to be used.
I suggested an alias a while back because both tags are identical in content, though someone argued that the *_insertions tags are meant for objects only (even though anal_insertion's wiki claims otherwise). Between anal/vaginal, insertion and its subtags, and penetration, the various tags for jamming it in are a clusterfuck.
While I haven't really held the view, I can agree with vaginal and anal involving any actn goin' on down thar (with oral just having to deal with nether-region activity exclusivity, I guess).
For penetration, I'd say it would be requisite of a penis (or strap-on, if we want to define things as "in the function of a penis").
I think anything else I have at all a grip on is sitting in that OP.
A long time ago (back when I was still green) NWF Renim mentioned that penetration was for non-sexual objects being used sexually (e.g. carrots, batons, leeks, etc.) so we have some redundancy with the insertion tags. I don't mind having insertion for non-genital penetration, but we need to clear this up before going further, probably purging penetration.
Orgy currently implicates sex despite the fact that it is quite possible to have an orgy without penetration. That is just one of the problems that was discussed until people got tired of the discussion and nothing happened.
We need to clean up these tags, especially the ones related to foreign object insertions.
Here's what I think we should do, with parts taken from proposals in this thread as well as forum #46944, and modified by myself:
Use sex for insertion of a penis, strap-on, tentacle, or similar, vaginally or anally. (This is basically what we do now.)
Use object_insertion for insertion of other foreign objects that aren't attached to someone's body. (This is a clearer name than insertion or penetration.)
Use penetration for general penetration (either sex or object insertions). (This is far more intuitive than its current definition.)
Remove implication orgy -> sex (Not all orgies must involve sex.)
Alias insertion -> object_insertion (I believe that most posts tagged with insertion are object insertion. Not all are, so I'll clean up the ones I can find after we do this.)
With our current definition, sex must involve a penis, so tentacles, which are more like arms/limbs wouldn't count. It appears that all tentacle_sex (tag populated by Danielx21) images where moved to sex tentacle, which would explain why there are 37 pages.

I believe that the majority (probably 30+ of the 37 pages) of tentacles sex posts were tagged with both before tentacle_sex was changed to sex as mentioned in that thread. So I assume we've been counting tentacle penetration as "sex" for a while already.
Also, where do you see the definition of sex as requiring the presence of a penis? It's not on the wiki.
Not that I would particularly care if tentacles were counted as object_insertion instead of sex, I just don't feel we should change something that's been in effect for a while.
So personally, I don't want to try to redefine it or make its usage any more specific than it is currently. I never actually intended to change it in the first place. This proposal is mostly focused on the other tags such as insertion.
It's already used for tentacles quite a bit, and excluding them would probably make it even more confusing.
