A kaomoji is a particular style of emoticon made of special characters and Japanese letters. Like this: (´• ω •`) <- This guy's name is Shoboon, by the way. Just a fun fact.

There's also probably a discussion to be had about whether emoji should be tagged emoticon, or just text emoticons. There's some emoji in the tag rn.
