so this is what le cardinal is after by spike the appetizer with black matter furikake!? nobody tell me about the after-effect being "susceptible to propaganda"!
So you used it even being fully aware of the aftereffects!?
No, Katori she was in the freaking submarine in radio silent mode all that time, didn't you see? Only thing she could see is how Teste and Richelleu fainted back in bar.
I really didn't expected the twist comeback of the Dark Matter Furikake! And it turns out that this time the pastabotes are the ones that didn't brought any problems.
I'm not exactly happy with this new plot development, and it's hard to say why.
Is it because up until now I'd thought the audience was supposed to be with Gangut and against Iowa, and now it seems it's more the opposite? I might have to eat my words for some of my posts, but not otherwise unwelcome.
Is it because I think that this will become the defining moment for some of the less-used shipgirls and Helena, Houston, and/or Sheffield will now be characterized as hardcore communists? That's not a certainty, but the idea does bother me.
Is it because Gangut, who already had the upper hand, now has a far, far stronger position due to largely unintended consequences? Somewhat.
Is it because tampering with everybody's food like this is legitimately heinous, and I doubt Gangut will see any real punishment after this is all over? Perhaps a bit.
Is it because KanColle implies that shipgirls have training battles against each other, so Yamato probably didn't need to go through all of this trouble? Not at all; that could even be a punchline further down the road.
Is it because, now that the story is taking Tashkent seriously as a character, it's obvious her fixation on a romanticized view of history is unhealthy and that, while Gangut means well in trying to raise her spirits, she's ultimately encouraging Tash to rededicate herself to bad habits instead of using this opportunity to help her develop a healthier worldview? That ultimately depends on how the story pans out.
Aww, that’s not fair. You can’t use the brainwashed plot device twice in one arc.

For me, it might be that the brainwash/mind control etc. plot device is starting to feel overused. I’ve lost count of the arcs where it’s present, and I can think of 2 arcs where it’s a major plot element (Colorado’s Mansion, Tashkent and Kiyoshimo captured.)
Sometimes it’s played for a rule of funny, but for me it’s lost the unpredictability and thus humor. I expect at least one case of brainwashing/hypnosis/mind control in each arc.
Something else that comes to mind is “why do these shipgirl’s have such weak mental fortitude.” I can’t recall a single time where someone successfully resisted mind control.
I hope I didn’t come off as too much of a killjoy.
I guess you can argue this is kind of different because it came from Hiei-Isokaze and not the Abyssals? We've barely had any Abyssals since the Graf arc, if you think about it.
Abyssals in Idoverse have used mind control as early as the Hoppo invasion arc, and since then various times like the Tashkent Dream arc, Haruna arc, Gamby Island arc, Colorado arc. I think I don't really mind it because the mind control itself has never been the main point of any of these arcs, save perhaps the Colorado arc.
Also does anyone have the feelings Ido is going for a closure? Because there're quite a lot of loose ends wrapped up the last two arcs: Idomiral's backstory and origin for his characterization? Check. Graf's love story with Idomiral, coming to fruition with a (future) real engagement ring? Check. The meeting between Idomiral and Kurobukki, the girl who impacted/ started his characterization? Check. The threat of Zuiunism extinguished once and for all? Check. Maybe this is why he's doing one last Cold War schtick to wrap up the enmity between Gangut, Iowa and Warspite?
It feels more like this volume is following up on some of the plot points introduced in the previous one, and like the Kurobukki thing is setting something up for the future.

Definitely not. Those plots were for his 500 pAge Omnibus. He tweeted how people are asking him if he’ll ever do uma musume art, and he responded with “atm im firmly KanColle”

I never mentioned Ido switching to Uma musume? And we know the contents of the omnibus. Anything from the Hornet ramen mini-arc onward are not planned for tankoubon yet, AFAIK.

I think the implication was that Ido's comment implies he intends to keep working on KanColle material.

Yeah, his GFL comics have not been followed up, in despite of what his fans believed. He have not yet experienced the burnout that many felt after getting anally ravaged by RNG, then again he had no problems going to Easy to help avoiding said burnout. Myself I played KC less than before after experiencing first hand the fckery of RNG, like I got prepared well but it was not enough. Colorado event was the last straw to me, I really wanted that Akagi K2 torpedo bomber but RNG told me to suck some D. I am now mostly lingering thanks to Ido, and the curiosity to see Yamato K2 and Konishi's Enterprise, and Yoshinori's San Diego. Then I'll likely F off and just look at ido's comics. I now have Genshin Impact to entertain myself.

There are training battles among shipgirls in Idomiral's base, Yamato's problem is that she wants to have a fight where she gives everything she has, but she's such a powerhouse that the only person in the Japanese fleet that could give her that fight is Musashi, whom refuses to be her training partner because she can't hit her sister post #4447836, and the closest she had of a real all out fight is her brief fight against Iowa in the Zuuinist plot, that's why Gangut planned this "brainwashed Yamatoski" scheme to have her fight with Iowa, who's too dense to realize that it's all an act. Although all this could had been avoided if Yamato spared with the foreign battleships, but it might be that it's the foreign battleships who refuse to spar against her.

Guess you were right.
