Y'know, I've heard a bit about Super Creek's history, but I still am not sure how exactly a male horse's UmaMusume counterpart got saddled with an overly motherly personality. Is it something to do with the real horse or it's jockey, or is it just a character trait cooked up for fun?

Mostly the jockey. Take Yutaka. He liked Super Creek so much he refused to race in the Kikuka Sho unless he got to ride Super Creek. They let him do so and that's how both Yutaka and Super Creek won their G1 race. And many others later.
Then Yutaka/Super Creek defeated national fan-favorite Oguri Cap, resulting in him receiving a lot of hatemail (including death threats). He would later on ride Oguri Cap to victory, so the hate abated. Though people started calling Super Creek "Yutaka's Legal Wife" (ユタカの正妻) after this, and Oguri "the concubine". The former name kinda stuck around a bit, so that's probably where they got the inspiration for turning umagirl Super Creek into a "motherly" figure.
That and the horse was huge compared to his peers.
And also Special Week, and Kitasan Black, and Haru Urara, and- In any case, he is a legend in Japanese horse racing, he has rode and won many races. (He also cameo'd in season 1 anime BTW)

I just found out that the Umamusume Cinderella Gray manga also has a genderswapped version of Yutaka as Super Creek's trainer.
Shifting "Ta-ke" over to "Na-se" is some ingenious wordplay.
I wonder if translating Tamamo's "Maa Maa" with a "Why bother?", so it Super Creek would hear "My mother" is too forced? Maybe just leaving the original joke is good enough?
Right, I finally came around to trying to complete the translation to this comic, but I might be missing lots of nuances, so it would be nice if anyone could check it.
Heck, third comment in sequence makes me seem overbearing, but I just noticed this comic escaped the pool. Is there a need to put it in there in chronological order or not?
I know how to add it at the end of the pool, but not at the middle.
this wasn't added to the pool, so i went and added it
Tama-chan...Could you... could you say what you just said again... just one more time...Wha...?tonkbonktonkbonktonkCome on...Thanking someone a second time is kinda embarrassing...That would be a complicated parent-child setting!Don't be spinnin' a ladle round an empty pot, yeah?
Fuyou Kaede's "empty pot" scene from SHUFFLE! anime Episode19.*sigh* Anyone will do...
I just want to pamper somebody...
If only some hungry child would appear...You called me "Mother" at the start there, didn't you!?
Tamamo said "Maa Maa", which is a casual interjection, to which Super Creek heard as "Mama", and was prompted to fawn over her childI didn't say nothing like that!! Not one word!!You don't gotta keep doing more for us, yeah?
Take some time to do some self-care. We really do 'preciate 'ya.A Joyful Word
