It's not an error, both are fine in English. Even NHK has used inari sushi in English.
It's also a common error in translation to assume that loanwords have to remain the same as their native language, in pronunciation or otherwise. As rendaku doesn't exist in English, to many people inarizushi looks wrong, as if it wasn't sushi; this means it gets hypercorrected to inari sushi.
That's not to say that inarizushi is wrong either, both are perfectly fine.
