I really like what the artist has done with this Warspite's range of clothing; she isn't confined to her in-game outfit, which, in a sense, sort of gives her some humanity.

Beyond the clothes, this artist does great with the characters themselves, giving them depth and making them more than mere cliches or cardboard cutouts. One example is post #3631965, where Warspite tries to ease Jervis' anxiety over an upcoming battle, and the latter notices that Warspite's hands were also cold.

They really do bring out her loveliness.
To be fair, this artist is head over heels with Warspite (and by extension her voice actress Uchida Shuu).
He drew a short manga about going to Kancolle on Ice and being surprised and completely losing his composure when Uchida-san (in Warspite garb) appeared on the rink assisted by one of the skaters. He basically yelled out "Uwaaaa, Shuu-chaaaaan!". :D

100% agree. I haven't played the game, but from what I've read from each character's voice lines, they all feel kinda... same-y. This is the reason why I love the fanfics and fan art/comics the community makes, they inject some life into them that's lacking in the game. Like that post for instance, I just love the mother-daughter relationship Warspite and Jervis have, and I think Yamada pulls it off rather well.

Thats the problem, more quotes are going to sound much more similar just by reading them.
Usually most KC characters present themselfs with not too much difference in personality and always keeping idiosyncratic impressions at minimun till you start to play around with them, not a good choice unless you expect your players to have some commitment with their "wondering" digging further otherwise they move to the next new moe thing.
Yamada Rei's Warspite isnt a different Warspite, is just one which has the same personality as the one from the game but more flash out and judging by him being the one that draws Warspite in casual clothing the most, probably is a way for him to cope with the fact that she still doesnt have an official casual clothing CG like the others in the game yet.
