That depends. In Slayers, for example, Elves age very slowly. In Queen's Blade, it's the same. Had a pure blood elf girl, who was 100 years old and looked 12. Frankly, if it's typical of elven life-cycles to match a human's until puberty, all the more reason for the twist.
