Romanization error?

Posted under Tags

A couple of days ago I made the character tag for post #1793032.
There isn't any official romanization of her name, just ヴェロッテ.
On an external forum where the game is discussed, people uses Velotte to adress her. To a certain point I think is a correct translation; but, at the moment of tagging, I shamelessly didn't follow Danbooru's guidelines.

Here you can find a screenshot with her name on the japanese wiki (right above of the 3 stars):

If you have to ask me, I'll stick with Velotte, but following Danbooru standards it should be Verotte (I think).
So what should be done next? Just replacing the tag would be enough? Is the previous tag deleted?

I checked the forums for previous or similar cases and just found the Horo-->Holo thread. Quite an amusing discussion I must say.

Danbooru's romanization standards only apply for Japanese names. ヴェロッテ is definitely not a Japanese name so they don't mean anything here.

For cases like this you either go with the official romanization, or if none exists you just have to guess what the intended romanization probably is.

Funny that I see this topic after making a post about those crazy Gundam names.

It's meant to be a "foreign" name and there's no official romanization, so the best thing to do is to either link it to an existing foreign name or to flat romanize. It appears to be an original name, so I'd flat romanize and use "Verotte". Also, I think the character should be referred to and tagged as kaizoku_verotte or pirate_verotte (I'm not sure which one danbooru would generally go with) as the character is generally referred to in full by that.
