MagiMirai Miku alias

Posted under Tags

BUR #10958 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

Show

Makuhari-chan already existed for a while but now that the other MagiMirai Miku tags have been added, magimirai_miku_(2016) should be added as well for consistency's sake. (Side note: The fact that this version has a name was the main reason I was hesitant to add numbered tags for the other versions)

In that regard, Magimirai_miku_(2020) should also be added. I was momentarily confused that it didn't already exist.

BUR #10979 has been rejected.

create implication magimira_miku -> hatsune_miku

I was planning on a BUR once I finish all the gardening but since you went ahead already might as well add these here.

On the other hand I'm not sure how useful an umbrella tag for Magimirai 2020 will be. I considered it at first, but we already have a lot of vocaloid outfit tags, this will make the character section in posts like post #5344479, post #4351606 even more excessive. If someone wants to look for both outfits they can always search magimirai_miku_(2020* and it will only count as 1 tag.

Update: Removed the redundant ones already listed below.

Updated

This also brings up the question of how the theme song tags are used. At first, I only tagged them if the art itself specifically referenced the song, or the artist commentary referenced the lyrics, etc. Then I switched to using the song tags in lieu of character tags for each year, so all post that contain that year's outfit would be tagged. But now that we actually have character tags for each year, this would be redundant. Though I guess that in itself isn't a problem, but it'd only be useful in those very rare instances where a post references the song but doesn't contain Miku.

Also might as well bring this up now rather than later but I'm conflicted on the name "magimirai" since it's not one I've seen before.

The full name would be "Magical Mirai", abbreivated as "MagiMira" in Japanese, or "Mirai" in the Western fandom so I feel it should be either "Magical Mirai Miku" or "Mirai Miku" instead.

In regards to this, I think we should do it like how it's done already with the other songs. If it's clearly referencing the song, then tag it (be it in the commentary or in the art).

Agreed

I've considered all of these when I was creating the tags. "Magical Mirai Miku" sounds very excessive and inconsistent since it has three words.
I've barely heard anyone use "Mirai" before so I didn't think it was clear enough. I might also be mistaken for stuff like future Rin. And mirai and miku means essentially the same thing so generally wasn't a good name choice in my opinion.
The one I preferred the most is "magimira/magimirai" as it's both a single word and a clear abbreviation of Magical Mirai. I've seen both "magimirai" and "magimira", I thought "magimirai" was more common when I created the tags, but I'm fine if we decided "magimira" is the better one.

(I honestly thought Mirai Miku would be kinda funny)

I'm good with MagiMira, BUR updated. Still want to keep the full version as an alias though.

I'm fine with that, it just seems that magical_mirai_* with soon be flooded but it's not that important.

Oh and while you're here, I found some vocaloid arts that need easteregg identification, post #4136252, post #5344479 and post #2839070. I added the ones that I'm certain, but there are still a lot of unsure/unrecognized ones. Since you're one of the few active vocaloid people I know maybe you can give it a hand?

post #5344479 the two dresses behind Yuki Miku (2021)'s hat reminded me of karakuri pierrot and bad end night but they're super blurry.
post #2839070 on the left of Yuki Miku (2011) looks like Sakura Miku's sleeve, but it has extra waves on the edges that Sakura Miku doesn't have? Given how the artist included all the Yuki Mikus and Magimira Mikus up to 2017, there's no reason for some of the Racing Mikus to not be present, but I can't find Racing Miku (2011) nor Racing Miku (2017).

Updated

Ultimately decided not to make alias for full versions for each year. Anyone trying to search the full name would be directed to the base tag anyway and from there they can find specific years.
