Deprecate German_Army or rename it for other purpose? And other (country_name)_Army tags

Posted under Tags

I think the tag German Army seems ambiguous and redundant. We already have specific tags which better describe German military branches throughout history such as Reichswehr, Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, Fallschirmjager, Nationale Volksarmee, Volksmarine and Bundeswehr.

I'd like to hear what others would think about this issue before proposing another BUR. I would like to thank a user who responded me and stating his/her opinion regarding this tag beforehand. Likewise, we already have tags like United States Army, United States Navy, United States Air Force and United States Marine Corps as well, instead of more-generic US military.

I'd vote the opposite actually, German Army is a tiny tag but I wish it were the umbrella for all those others. For someone like me who loves military images but isnt informed about the specific German divisions it'd be helpful to have a more general tag to add or search.

As an American and English speaker US titles are more self-evident and easier to tag specifically, but I also think a general United States Army tag could be useful for grouping them all together. Grouping by country makes sense; the lay person isnt expected to know all the specific titles for the Navy around the world.

You'd group it as the US Military, not the US Army. The Army of any nation is just one part that makes up the greater whole.

That's correct. I would refrain using _Army tag. How about using military and country name tag altogether? Army is basically reserved for ground forces only. It should've been German military umbrella tag instead to cover all branches. But I don't think it's quite necessary. Meanwhile there's no Japanese military tag that covers historical Imperial Japanese Army and current Japan Self-Defense Force (and its branches) as well.

So do I. Almost having an idea to manually deplete and nuke German Army, in favour of umbrella term German military.
