I'm hesitant to delete these until the discussion is complete, though I think the proposed usages of "alternate_*" tags with the characters fails a certain degree of specificity of what the pools are asking. I think the "elaborate_*" tags proposed in the linked discussion thread (topic #8795) seem kind of on the right track, but I think instead of tags they'd require being pools because of the degree of what is considered elaborate-enough to be called "elaborate" seems to be something that'll end up highly subjective.

It's already been discussed multiple times despite a couple people's continued insistence that they're pointless. Flan with bird or Remi's wings is not fancy, it's only alternate. Also things like post #1451956 fall under the pool but not really the tag unless we broaden it to the point where the tag becomes pretty much worthless. The same can apply to any of the others.

If you really want, we can split alternate_wings into alternate_wings and adapted_wings. Currently, alternate_wings DOES cover both completely different and slightly altered wings (wiki). Your example would then go into adapted_wings. adapted_wings would have the same conditions as adapted_costume.
If you really think about it, post #1451956 doesn't even qualify for the pool.

And I think alternate_weapon does the job well. It's only that people think too much about the "alternate" part of the name instead of the actual definition of the tag.

Both were reported multiple times in this thread. Their inclusion criteria is extremely vague ("characters that look absolutely stunning"), they are basically favorites pools.

I agree with this in regard to these pools. Using an alternate tag doesn't always apply to thing that can fit the criteria. The item in question can be the same base deign a the orginal, but if it is presented in a more elaborate or unique way it could fit into the pool.

I've noticed a bit of disagreement between myself and another user in regards to one of said pools. After a mass purge of the pool, I decided to look for the link into why the pictures were removed. The link was that all of the pictures lacked an alternate tag. While they fit into the pool, they couldn't be searched due to a lack of, or failing to meet the criteria of the tagging. To this one might say "make new tags for them," but what is the point if the new tag over complicate the process. When you need to many tags to search by, or tags begin to encompass too much on their own, searching becomes a very difficult thing to do. I believe such cases as these are the reason for the existence of Pools in the first place.

I went through the Komachi pool a while ago, added alternate_weapon to every image it applies to, and cleaned up the pool by removing some images in which the scythe does not differ in any significant way from the original. Please do not add them back.

I think this post would have been better served as a PM to me.

Despite that, my point still stands. alternate_weapon/alternate_wings isn't going to cover, nor should it, everything that could fall into a pool like this.

How about we just make an "Amazing Weapons/Equipments" pool instead? Just move all the pics in "Komachi's Amazing Scythe" and "Momiji's Awesome Shield" there. It's not like people only draw Touhou characters with amazing-looking weapons, so making one that covers every series out there is a good alternative.

To be included in this pool, an image doesn't have to have a harem tag, as long as there're two or more girls fighting over Aida Mana, showing her affection, or someone being jealous of another girl getting close to Mana.

Read the discussion about harem in topic #6731, which set the minimum number of people to 3.
All this pool does is circumvent this restriction to allow images with just 2 girls in the harem.

With the emergence of the hetero tag, this pool has become largely pointless. Virtually everything in the pool could (or should) be covered via search with morichika_rinnosuke + hetero + rating:s or touhou + hetero + rating:s.

Otherwise, the pool probably should get a rename to fit its intent more accurately.

I want to make a pool, but since I don't want to be accused of making a pointless pool, I'll ask for the permission to do so here first. Sorry if this is off-topic...

I want to make a pool for pictures that beg for continuations. Basically, it's pictures depicting something happening, but because the artists never drew continuations of them, we don't know happened next, so it's up to the viewers to imagine the results.

Good idea for a pool or not?
