Reworking the rating system

I’d say sensitive because it’s showing too much skin.

How much is "too much skin" though? That phrase has gotten thrown around a lot, but aside from the most obvious examples, no actual line has been established. That's the amount of bare skin you would see on a person if you were to just walk outside.

Is there a way to rate all posts from some artists as general?

For example https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=demizu_posuka
Or should I edit every post manually?

You can use tag scripting mode. Select "tag script" in the mode menu on the left side and enter "rating:g" in the text input that appears. Now you can just click a preview image to change the rating. I recommend using gigantic post previews (size menu on the top right) and actually look before clicking, even SFW artists can have some posts that should be rated S.

Based on what evazion said, I’m going with prude American morals.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but this change is stupid and I don't understand how this was approved.

I'm here because the change is so illogical that I had to find out what was wrong with the site and so here I am.

This change is made on the bases that the majority of users with accounts uses Danbooru at work... that is STUPID!

I seriously doubt how useful this mode is for anyone, but if you are going to make this change you have put the cart before the horse, because what you should have done first is make a slider for a "Sensitive Mode" for those sensitive persons who needs this mode in "Sensitive" situations where they still need to use Danbooru.

It makes no sense that you would make this change for 99% of the site users that come here for anime/japanese art. All safe mode needs to be is what safe mode is described as: Show only safe images. Hide questionable and explicit images.

So in summary: Make a button for "Sensitive Mode", for those very few people who needs this mode.

(in the very least explain this illogical decision in the Danbooru changelog thread)

Safe mode only applies to donmai.moe, not danbooru.donmai.us. There's also a user setting to toggle it.

I'm not sure what exactly you're getting mad at given that nothing has changed if you're browsing the site from the main address.

It was never up for approval. It was the site owner’s decision.

(in the very least explain this illogical decision in the Danbooru changelog thread)

Payment processing companies don’t like half naked underage animu girls next to their “Pay here” buttons, so this change was perfectly logical.

There are lots of reasons why someone might want to filter out lewd content without literally being at work. I try to avoid the term "safe for work" exactly so that people don't get hung up on the idea that the only reason to filter out porn is if you're literally at work.

I tried to keep my post somewhat short, but I like safe mode, it is nice to have a way to browse the site without pornographic content popping up. A safe mode that filters out 90% of the content on the site on the other hand is broken.

As for the donmai.moe thing, I suppose it is strange that I don't see more hate towards this, but I assume that if I turn Safe Mode off my address changes? All I can see is that my current address is danbooru.donmai.us/ in the browser, but I don't know what kind of coding magic is in operation. Just take a look at the butchered Slice of Life pool with Safe Mode on looks like pool #2810, how is any of the pictures on that first page something that needs to censored? If this is some technical thing I don't understand; then I apologize, how can I use the site normally then with safe mode only hiding questionable and explicit images?

@kittey Sure that might be logical in the context of your comment, but there is no such context when browsing the site.

@evazion I only skimmed the comments for a couple of pages and most seemed positive which made me even more confused, it wasn't stated in the OG post that this is a necessary gimping of the site because of Payment processing, but maybe it was stated on further pages? I do get that there might be politics that prevents the real reason from being mentioned, but it just adds to the confusion.

I apologize for my insults, but danbooru is a big enough part of my anime life that I think it warrants at least a little bit of frustration when I see it destroying itself and people on the forum clapping for it. I probably misunderstood the situation tho.

Anyhow, the "Sensitive" rating name makes no logical sense when there is nothing sensitive in the picture(example: post #685176) and I hope safe mode can still be a working feature on this site for those who like using it, but if I'm in an extreme minority there I can understand if the feature is not worth the extra work.

This post was uploaded before general/sensitive. Not every post on Danbooru has been rerated yet.

And I guess you just changed it making my example somewhat confusing haha. Okay so that kind of picture isn't supposed to be hidden on Safe Mode I presume, now it makes more sense. I guess we'll see how it ends up looking. This would perhaps just be a selfish request then that we do have third option as I don't want Safe Mode more limiting then it used to be, as I have seen some pictures rather bafflingly rated questionable, so I feel like I already miss out on enough on Safe Mode. But if that's only me(and @Iluvmaids ), then I'll shut up.

As an example: post #4105689 This isn't the kind of thing I want hidden on Safe Mode, cleavage isn't pornographic in on itself I think we can all agree.

Maybe reading the Rating Guidelines will help you with that. If you still don’t understand why a post was rated the way it is, feel free to ask in topic #8495.

As an example: post #4105689 This isn't the kind of thing I want hidden on Safe Mode, cleavage isn't pornographic in on itself I think we can all agree.

Yes, we can all agree that cleavage isn’t pornographic. Why is why it’s rated sensitive and not explicit.

If you don’t want that hidden, turn off Safe Mode, put rating:e and rating:q on your blacklist and start using is:sfw.
