Reworking the rating system

No, a lot of scripts and custom clients are using rating:safe and now they are skipping actually safe images and returning only sensitive ones. Please make an alias.

Then they should be updated. We can't indefinitely support every script that could ever exist.

Thank you, I understood that the first time, I am saying that the old tag rating:safe should mean what it always used to mean instead of being aliased to the new tag rating:suggestive, because any people (and software) still using the old tag are most likely expecting it to work as it did.

rating:safe doesn't exist anymore, there is no alias. It still "works" as a search query because it starts with "rating:s", and so it returns rating:s posts (which are now suggestive) - much in the same way you can search rating:safe-ish_idk_this_is_pretty_suggestive_bro to get rating:s posts or rating:garbage_not_hentai to get rated G posts.
Old scripts, sites, and users have to update the way they fetch safe posts.

And maybe some guidelines for drug usage depicted...? Like if it's off-limits for G or doesn't matter.

I'd like to second this if it hasn't been covered somewhere already. howto:rate currently covers suicide ("Depictions of thoughts of suicide or self-harm") so I think images like post #5200228 (attempted overdose) are currently covered.

My initial gut feeling on some examples:

A few ideas on how this might be handled:

  • 1. By how cartoonish/detailed the depiction is. Similar to how violence currently is factored into the rating, cartoonish depictions get G-rating while more realistic/dark depictions get the S-rating.
  • 2. By the type of drug depicted (Example: Alcohol and cigarettes are G-rated, harder drugs get S-rated)
  • 3. Everything with the drugs tag gets at least an S-rating with maybe some exceptions
  • 4. Recreational substance use has no impact on the rating, however intentional self-harm or attempted suicides like overdosing are already covered, so no changes are really needed.

because I don't want to cause some kind of "rating change war" I would like to ask the following questions
in what rating does bare midriff fall? especially midriff peek
my doubt lies in the following post post #5039206
no underboob, no undewear, no ultra-tight clothing, just a regular shirt slightly short, just enough to show the navel and a little more.
sensitive or general?

also, if my question varies greatly depending on the situation, I would appreciate it if you could show me some examples, thank you.

I’d say sensitive because it’s showing too much skin.
