Ratings check thread

Posted under General

Sometimes I like to use the safebooru.donmai.us (safe mode) version of this site. In that spirit, when I’m on the “full” site I change posts that are incorrectly rated as Sensitive to General.

Would posts like this: post #6557807
be considered S or G? The reason I’m unsure about this is that visually there is nothing sensitive but conceptually the character is naked.

Also if a character is fully clothed, but has breasts that are so huge that they give an “in your face” (kinda like post #6639112) feeling, would that be considered S or G?

Unbreakable already responded in the thread you started earlier, but didn't say which post he was referring to. The first post should be rated S. There's no exact standard for how much nudity should be visible for S ratings, but I'd say if the lower bound is between the neck and just above the nipple line, it's probably S.

Typically, in-your-face breasts should be at least S regardless of how much clothing the subject is wearing. The second post doesn't seem too in-your-face to me and I probably wouldn't change the rating if someone rated it G, but if you're not sure, it's fine to change it to S. If you can't decide between G and S, you should always default to S.

Also, I recommend looking at the older posts if you want to find more to make available to Safe Mode. A couple years ago, all of the posts formally rated Safe were changed to Sensitive, including those that are 100% SFW. All of the G ratings were added manually. Danbooru has been around for years, so there are still a lot of S-rated posts from long ago that can be moved into G.

Sorry, I meant the first post, nude is an automatic S at the very least.

Thanks y’all! I’ll apply this knowledge as needed in the future.

I recently received feedback from another user that I was being a bit too easy to rate things General. I understand the guidelines a bit better now, but just to be sure where the line is, would post #6087633 be General or Sensitive?

with visible skin such as collarbone, chest, and bare shoulder, I would rate as S.

The first one is my main ask here (the diamond cutout here would be a cleavage cutout if this were a full body image), but I figured I'd bring up the second to figure out where the line between G and S should be drawn here.

Huh, that's a curious case. I would say G because I tend to think the "tag what you see" maxim applies here and I see what's essentially a doll with none of the prospective cleavage. Between that and the proportions deemphasising it... if you hadn't pointed it out, I'd probably have missed it, to be honest.

Conversely, the latter, with the whole ballerina/leotard aesthetic and the way the crotch is framed, is an easy S to me.

EDIT: I'm actually more curious what your rationale is for S on post #6663886? Are you seeing something I missed?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. It was that diamond cutout there on the first one that made me hesitate about rating it G at a first glance (though that is what I went with in the end before coming to ask for a double check), especially since it didn't make me uncomfortable to have on, say, Safebooru like the second image. The latter in question was rated S for incredibly obvious reasons, but the note in the rating guidelines about chibis normally being G made me second guess myself there. Thank you!

On another note (since I was just about to come here when this answer popped up)...

Should this be S or Q? While nothing sexual seems to be happening (though G is definitely out of the question here), this image feels kinda rapey to me. The artist actually has this one hidden behind a sensitive content warning, too. I went with Q here, but I wanted to double check.

I… what is even happening in this image? It looks like he’s floating/suspended in slime; I don’t see why it can’t be G. Maybe S because the tendrils look like restraints? Not Q though, no guro or genitalia I can see.

Probably S then. He is definitely unconscious, I can say that much. I'll go ahead and rerate that then. Thank you.

It looked to me like Olimar was being eaten, which would make this vore if true, but I don't know much about Pikmin 3 or the plasm wraith. I think S is appropriate.

I do. The context here is effectively that Olimar has been captured by the Plasm Wraith, and it keeps him effectively unconscious. Because of this, I do not think vore is an appropriate tag here, but considering the fact that the creature ends up obsessed with him (as I ended up detailing a bit on its wiki page here), it is extremely easy to put that in a variety of disturbing contexts. Like this one.

Anyway, I simply wasn't too sure if S or Q was appropriate for this one, so I thought to ask. Thank you.

I would make a separate topic for this, let’s not muck up a request thread with discussion over Danbooru policy.

Regarding the posts, I would never consider post #5848479 for S, the scars are incredibly minuscule, lack special attention, and I can’t even see them on mobile without zooming in. post #6088801 I find less so because of the deeper-drawn scars and other details (tears, dead eyes, tattered clothes) but the lack of any outward blood, fresh injury or camera focus does not fully convince me. Feel free to quote me in your new thread, I’ll be asleep by the time you make it.

Also, you might want to interrogate @sabisabi and @HyphenSam as well.
