Recent works of this artist has a feel of AI-ness into it, though this one is arguably the most blatant due to the relatively low resolution compared to their other works and the way characters were shaded.

Have you considered buying the PSD to verify? I know it's $5 but that's part of the burden of proof.

From the image itself, no I don't feel this is AI, not even assisted.

The car looks strange. The lines meet in odd ways and there are highlights that look pretty out-of-place. The character's face looks a bit like a generic AI face. Might be AI-assisted, but maybe I'm overthinking.

The headlights and the whole messed up door/back region are definitely screaming AI here. Going with AI-assisted, as the character lineart doesn't look measurably different from his old work.

If there is AI in it, there has been a lot of human intervention:

  • highlights on the car don't really look out of place, rather the car seems be photoshopped-in and then painted over to some degree (except wheels, they are left as photo)
  • the character's face could be AI, but the closest thing to sus on her is how the hair strands look on the sides, it looks like some lowkey-messy fixing of ai hair shenanigans.

But overall nothing that really settles the question beyond "it's ai-assisted at most"

I agree with Mayhem-chan, official illustrators for NIKKE have a characteristic artstyle for characters. The car is the same of post #6278844 and there are also post #6107194 and post #6016326 with similar cars.

EDIT ↓: Yep, I'm aware.

If these posts are being made in some kind of official capacity, there was already a controversy over NIKKE using AI to fill in details in CGs like post #5966572, and lead artist kim hyung tae is an AI user.

That's true, and i wouldn't be surprised if AI use is encouraged in the team
But i don't know what's the performance of AI when it comes to generating cars, and having checked closely the car in post #6327469, the photo wheels with the recognizable bugatti logo on them makes me believe the cars in those works are rather photoshopped, then painted over to a degree i can't be sure of, with modifications

this piece seems to be ai-assisted as the OP mentioned abt photo bashing, I managed to find some line works for this

bashed photo

this is AI with possibly some glowy lights added. the "layers" in the second tweet are just the same image. and the """linework""" in the first tweet is pretty clearly just the guy telling the AI to generate a sketch based off of the final image.

An other flag without a tag.

Who keeps flagging these long-established artists that publish their PSD/CLIP files for all their works? Seen it happen to misaka_12003-gou for post #6112583 and now waterring. It's hard to believe they're not trolls. I don't know if Danbooru has a system to filter out bad flaggers.

For the record I am a Patreon supporter of WaterRing. I know for sure they're not using AI, unless someone shows me AI can generate PSD files that resemble human workflow to uncanny level.

Even if they don't have the PSD file, there's not excuse to mistake this art for AI. Zoom into literally everywhere. Aren't those obviously brushstrokes? Don't tell me they can't differ brushstrokes from the contours AI generate, yet have the confidence to go around Danbooru witchhunting.
